Chorus Privacy Policy

The short version

Chorus does not collect personal data. The music and audio played at a party travel directly between the devices in the room, over the local network. They never pass through a server of ours and never leave for the internet. There are no accounts, no sign-up and no user profiles.

What information is handled

1. Audio and music

When you host, Chorus reads the audio files you choose on your own device and streams them to the guest devices in your party over the local network or a direct device-to-device connection. That audio is not stored on any server, is not permanently copied onto guest devices, and stops being available when the party ends.

2. Microphone

Chorus may ask for microphone access for exactly one purpose: acoustic calibration. The app plays a short, effectively inaudible tone and listens for it in order to measure your speaker's real delay, because the operating system does not report that figure accurately, particularly over Bluetooth.

The recording is analysed in the device's memory for a few seconds and then discarded. It is never written to disk, never transmitted anywhere and never shared with anyone. The microphone is activated only when you tap “Calibrate” and is released as soon as the measurement finishes. You can deny or revoke this permission in Settings; the app keeps working, with slightly lower accuracy.

3. Device name

The name you choose for your device inside the app is shown to other people in the party so they can tell devices apart. It is stored only on your device. We recommend not putting personal information in it.

4. Subscriptions

Subscriptions are handled by Apple and by our payments infrastructure provider, RevenueCat, Inc. We never see, receive or store your card details or your identity; that information is handled exclusively by Apple.

To determine whether your subscription is active, RevenueCat processes an anonymous identifier generated by the app, the app's purchase history, and technical device data such as model and system version. That identifier is not linked to your name, your email or your Apple Account.

5. Local network

Chorus needs local network permission to discover the nearby devices taking part in a party. That discovery is limited to devices running Chorus that have chosen to join. The app does not scan your network, does not enumerate other devices and does not collect information about your router.

What Chorus does not do

  • No advertising and no ad networks.
  • No tracking of your activity across other apps or websites.
  • No access to your location, contacts, photos or calendar.
  • No selling or sharing of data with third parties.
  • No retention of microphone recordings.

Children

Chorus is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Because the app stores no identifiable personal data in our systems, there is no profile for us to access, correct or delete. If you are in the European Union and wish to exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability or objection under Regulation (EU) 2016/679, write to ortizrojas_bnk@hotmail.com and we will help, including pointing you to Apple or RevenueCat where the data sits with them. You may also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

You can remove everything the app keeps on your device by uninstalling it.

Changes

If we update this policy we will publish the new version on this same page and change the date above.
